I enjoyed my weekend in Wellington. I didn’t see the jousting at the Hutt Valley Carnival. We rode out on Nick’s bike and spent the day there. It was a fine day and I got slightly sunburnt. Nobody noticed.

‘Tis a pity that The Hollow Men is only in Dunedin occasionally now. I would ask him to take me for a ride so that I can keep in practice.

I saw two books at the airport bookshop shelved side by side: Guns, Germs and Steel and Collapse. They are both by the same author, Jared Diamond, and both are recommended. I should have bought them then and there, but I was catching the plane to Wellington. I got my copies from a bookshop in Dunedin. One of them had to be ordered and they arrived this week.

This weekend I’m away to church camp — where I will be assistant cook which means I will miss the weekend’s other events. Back on Sunday afternoon.

The ministry students are coming into Archives for one of their research paper. We have had about 10 out of 19 so far at least at the enquiry stage. The feedback we are getting is that they have discovered something exciting: handling primary source material!
